JOIN US FOR THE 2025-26 SEASON!

Auditions for the 2025-26 team are happening May 12-15! Tryouts are open to all current and incoming Sprague students, grades 8-11, regardless of gender or experience level. We are hosting an info meeting for all interested students on Tuesday, April 22nd in the Sprague library at 7 pm.

Do you plan to audition for the team? Follow these steps!

1.) Complete the registration form on Google forms

2.) Obtain a current physical to get cleared through the athletic department

3.) Register on Arbiter Sports under Dance Team and upload physical documentation

4.) Wear comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle when you show up to rehearsal on May 12th!

State Season 2025!

The Sprague Dance Team are the 2025 Show division STATE CHAMPIONS after a successful performance of their Show routine: "Pause // Press Play" at the OSAA Dance/Drill State Championships on Friday, March 21st, earning the program's first ever state championship. The team also shattered more team records by placing 4th in the 6A Traditional divison on Saturday, March 22nd and claiming 3 of Top 6 medals of the 6A Drill Down competition. Congratulations to Naomi Hamlin (3rd place), Layla Cassity (4th place), Bella Terzenbach (5th place)!

Senior Captain Bella Terzenbach also reprsented the team as a selected member of the 6A DDCA All State Team!

Coach Emily Salter Cook was recognized by the Dance/Drill Coaches Association of Oregon (DDCA) as the 2025 6A Assistant Coach of the Year! This is her second time receiving this honor in the 6 years since the award was established!

It was one of our most successful seasons to date, and we have many to thank within our Sprague community for the unyielding support and encouragement. GO OLYS!

The Sprague Dance Team is the competitive dance program at Sprague High School in Salem, Oregon. Our team consists of 20+ athletes who are committed to representing the Sprague and Salem communities through competitive and school-based performances in a way that showcases confidence, pride, and spirit.

We dedicate ourselves to reach a standard of excellence in both skill and character.

Auditions

Audition Info

Auditions take place every May for the selection of next year's team.

Auditions are open to ALL incoming or current Sprague students grades 8-11. There are no specific experience or ability requirements; we look for potential, coachability, and a passion for performance! The audition process includes three rehearsal days where dancers will learn a routine comprised of jazz, contemporary, and hip hop styles, as well as go over fundamental technique and skills. On the final day of auditions, dancers will perform in front of a small panel of judges with 2-3 other dancers. Results are usually posted the next day following the final audition.

2025-26 AUDITIONS!

ANNOUNCED!
Auditions for the 2025-26 team will occur May 12-15!

Audition practices will be held Monday-Wednesday, May 12, 13, and 14 in the aux gym from 6-7:30 (8th graders) and 7:30-9 pm (9-11th graders). This is when dancers will learn the routine presented on the audition day. The final audition day, May 15th, 6:00-8:30 (all grades) is when dancers will showcase the routine to a small panel of judges.

An informational meeting for new members to learn about our program and ask questions will take place on Tuesday, April 22nd from 7-8 pm in the Sprague Library. All students who intend to try out will need to fill out the audition form prior to the first day of tryouts.

Dancers should plan to wear comfortable clothing that allows movement and bring a filled water bottle.

2022-23 Season ~ Success!

We are wrapping up a very successful 2022-23 season! Our team is boasting huge successes from their competitive season including two DDCA Category Championships in the Kick and Novelty divisions and two state placements from the OSAA Dance/Drill State Championships: 2nd place 6A Kick; 3rd place 1A-6A Show.

2021-22 Season

State 2022 ~ All Things Considered

Congratulations! The Olyannes finished the 2022 winter traditional season with 2nd place in the Show division at the OSAA Dance/Drill State Championships! The team hasn't earned a state placement this high since 1993! Throughout the season, our Olyannes brought home one 2nd place and three 1st place finishes. It certainly was an incredibly successful season!

Fall 2021: A Champion's Voyage

The Olyannes boasted an extremely successful fall season! Not only did their hard work pull off Sprague's very first undefeated season in the Novelty division, but they also ended fall earning the team's very first championship with their "Castaways" routine at the 2021 DDCA Category Championships! The team also finished 3rd with their modern routine that had earned 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishes throughout the season. Congratulations! We are so proud!
