Congrats Boys Basketball!
The Sprague Boys Basketball Program finished 3rd in the CVC Conference and made the state playoffs for the 8th time in 9 seasons. The Olympians were led by CVC CO Player of the Year – Liam Spencer, along with 2nd Team ALL CVC Members: Grayson Long and Jake Horn. Sophomores Jarod Stanley and Braxton Long both were selected Honorable Mention All-Conference and senior point guard Nathan Tesfu was also Honorable Mention All-Conference. It was another successful season for the OLYS after losing 8 seniors from the 2021-2022.
Congrats Girls Basketball!
Our girls’ basketball program had a tremendously improved season this year, highlighted by the varsity girls finishing with a .500 overall record for the first time in over 10 years. Our JV2 went 14-9 and won their league, and JV went 12-12 as well. Together, our program went 38-33. Our goal of ending the season with a winning overall record was met! We’d like to congratulate Carly Skogstad for being selected as CVC 1st Team All-Conference and CVC Co-Defensive Player of the Year. Alyssa Meza was selected CVC 2nd-team All-Conference, and both MaKenna Trussell and Summer Melena were selected for CVC Honorable Mention.
Congrats Wrestling Program!
The Sprague boy’s wrestling team had over 90 students sign up to participate this season! We finished the year with our 11th conference championship in a row, and 22nd overall! We had 6 conference champions, and 14 wrestlers qualified for the state tournament. This group of student-athletes battled through adversity all year, and always rose to the occasion. We finished 11th at the state tournament, overcoming some very difficult situations. We’ll return 9 state qualifiers next year, a solid foundation for the future! Congratulations to Josh Camillo and Andre Cernev for placing third at State wrestling and Seth Carp for placing 6th.
Congratulations to our girls’ wrestling program. The team competed in 9 tournaments across 2 states, won a composite 61 matches, and took home multiple tournament placements and medals. We are all so incredibly proud of the dedication these young women demonstrated as they sought to better themselves every time they stepped on the mats.
Both wrestling programs look forward to a productive offseason during which we will compete in Freestyle and Greco-Roman and continue to develop our skills. Anyone interested in attending practices should contact Coach AJ Antillon or Coach Jeremy Breddan for more details.
