Oly Town Hall

This coming Tuesday, January 17th, during Oly Prep in the Pantheon, we are having our second Oly Town Hall of the year. This is an opportunity for students to ask questions and raise concerns to a number of Sprague admin and bridge the gap that is often felt between the two. If you are not able to attend, or wish to ask your question anonymously there will be a link to a form sent in an email and found in your Canvas Announcements. We hope to see you there!

The Sprague Dance Team will be hosting and competing in the a dance team competition at Sprague on Saturday, January 14th. Over 300 elementary through high school age dancers from 16 teams will be representing their schools and dance studios from Salem, Albany, Dallas, Portland, Forest Grove, Corvallis, Beaverton, West Linn, Eugene, Coos Bay, and Lebanon. The round starts at noon and the entry fee is $8 for students. Sprague students are invited to come and enjoy the entertainment.

Student of the Month

One of the ways that we support a positive learning environment at Sprague is by recognizing students who are doing the right things. Each month, we ask staff to nominate students for this award, then vote on two students per grade level to be recognized. Students are nominated and voted on based on a particular OLY expectation. For December, we focused on students who embody the expectation “Live a life you’re proud of”. The monthly winners will receive a certificate, their picture in the school newsletter, and a free drink at the Oly Lounge!

Your Student of the Month winners for December are:

9th grade: Meadow Peters and Addison Hannant

10th grade: Mason Bradshaw and Ava Wolf

11th grade: Jasmine Ochoa and Madison Tate

12th grade: Taylor Patchell and Kelby Clarkson

Congratulations to our winners and keep up the good work!

ATTENTION STUDENTS

Eighty one years ago, President Franklin Roosevelt gave his four freedoms speech to Congress on January 6th, 1941.

In it he outlined four basic freedoms: Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Religion, Freedom from Want, and Freedom from Fear.

These freedoms are ideals for all of us to follow. In our own school we can practice the four freedoms by listening and respecting others even if their ideas are different than ours. We an be thankful for our free lunches that help to address freedom from want. We can learn about global peace efforts to create freedom from fear.
